Nanomaterials for Technology

Nanotechnology is the future of materials engineering. To many, Nanomaterials seem impossibly small and improbably powerful but members of the Alston Research group work with passion and immeasurable curiosity to discover the fundamentals and applications of the unique nanoscale materials that will reshape the materials industry and the world around us.

Educating Innovators

Alston Research is an interdisciplinary group at the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering that strives to educate the next generation of nanotechnology innovators. We value a hands-on research experience. Students learn by doing, and innovators learn by doing things differently. Researchers in our group are pushed to connect unrelated disciplines and explore new applications of nanomaterials.

Nanotechnology - Industry and Education Collaboration

Education happens within the context of a larger community. Our approach extends beyond the school to help ensure students have the necessary support and opportunities to do their best learning. Our goal is holistic as we create bespoke education programs to address the needs of our industry partners and national lab collaborators, and align our training with the needs of rising student communities. From training on the latest technology to new pedagogical methods, we hope to demonstrate and lead by example, making nanotechnology education engaging and successful. by ultimately being useful for both the student and future employer.
